Dr Parini graduated from the Advanced School of Modern Languages for Interpreters and Translators of the University of Bologna at Forlí (Italy) in 1996, with a thesis on the Italian dubbing of Q.Tarantino's films. In 1997 and 1998 she attended PostGraduate Courses in Multimedia Translation and in Foreign Languages Teaching at the University of Bologna. From 1999 till 2003 she worked as a translator of cartoons for the dubbing company Merak Film, Cologno Monzese, Milan. From 2002 till 2004 she worked as a translator for Harlequin Mondadori. Since 2003 she has been working as a Lecturer in English at the University of Milan. In 2011 she obtained a PhD in English Linguistics and Translation from the University of Milan, with a thesis on the variety spoken by Italian-American gangsters in American films and in the Italian dubbing, which was published in 2013 under the title "Italian American gangsterspeak. Linguistic characterization of Italian American mobsters in Hollywood cinema and Italian dubbing". She has also published articles in volumes and journals, mainly on the translation of geographically and socially connoted varieties in audiovisual works.
